Adventures With The NHS
Today was the day I finally got to go to the pain clinic at Charing Cross Hospital. Having never been there before, I was expecting a building in the style of beautiful Victorian gothic - how wrong could I be? It's a hideous monstrosity! Anyway, I was there by 10.50 and found the clinic at 11.20 (for an appointment time of 11.30) and I was seen at 12.35!! The doc disagreed with the consultant at QCCH over the treatment plan so the upshot is that for the next 3-6 months I'll have a wear a drug-infused dressing over the offending area and wait for it to slowly disable the trapped nerve endings!! There's a bit more ... CC Hospital doesn't issue the prescription for these because of the expense, £75 a packet apparently, so I had to come home via the GP's surgery to hand in a letter requesting that they issue the prescription. And when can I pick up the prescription? Anytime after 4.30pm next Tuesday! And what's the betting that Boots pharmacy doesn't have it in stock...

Typical NHS. I would go to Boots and tell them that your bringing the prescription in next week and can they get the stuff in in advance. Worth a try.
Oh dear, how disappointing is that? Agree with Liz, go on the offensive and get your bid in now... Went to the dentist myself today, ouch! Felt like I'd had botox in my top lip all afternoon and dribbled more than DD!
