So here we are, Sib and I, in our youth doing the tourist thing at John O'Groats in the far north of Scotland. What were we thinking re the permed hair? A definite fashion faux pas! But adding to that, we have Sib in sports wear (many miles from the nearest gym) and me in a hand-knitted jumper that is too big and a scarf wrapped around my neck a la the New Romantic period of the early 1980s! A case of no friends, no mirrors!Have you stopped laughing yet? Now go back and squint at the photo again. What do you notice this time around? Yep, that trip to John O'Groats was 20 years ago today, back in the day when we thought we were invincible and easily able to handle what life threw at us. Oh, the arrogance of youth!
