Today's prompt was simple: remember your manners, say please and thank you, and behave as you would in real life. That way, as in life, you might just be amazed at how much help and advice you're offered by fellow bloggers, should you ever need it. For most of today I've been pondering the reasoning behind Shimelle's thinking for this post, as in, why does she feel the need to spend a whole prompt reminding us of our blogging manners? And then I got it: I know of a blog, known as Smack Blog, where its whole reason for being is to slag off scrapbooking and scrapbookers. Before this evening, I'd never even looked at it, but in the interest of research I just have and I won't be returning. It appeared to be a forum intended solely for destroying the good name of UKScrappers, for gloating at the demise of Scrapbook Inspirations magazine and for pulling to pieces the talents of various design team members. I don't mind admitting that I was shocked by some of the comments I read.
Years ago, a friend said to me, "You know what your problem is? You always expect people to behave as you do and you should try to stop thinking that, because you're the one left hurt and upset when they don't."
So the bottom line of this prompt appears to me to be: Play nicely, be kind and generous with your blogging and comments and hopefully you will receive the same back.
(If I've read too much into today's prompt, please feel free to tell me so .... but nicely, of course!)

Beautifully put, Ruth - I'm with you!
Sound like perfect sense to me. What did we always get told? "Manners cost nothing"
i can't imagine anyone wanting to send their time gloating over the loss of a g8 magazine with so many readers or spending their time doing it. whaqt a sad world we live in!
jo xx
Great words, Ruth!
I've never seen that smack bloggy thing,it sounds most unpleasant.Even if you don't like something or don't agree, there is no need to be unkind and there is room for everyone.Manners cost nothing.Great post Ruth x
unfortunately, that's what the world is like - lots of people will smile at your face, and stab you in the back as soon as you turn around. I don't think you're reading too much into the prompt, but I do think we need to be a little realistic about how the world is changing. But, as you say, it costs nothing to be kind.
Hi Ruth
It's been too long between visits - you had 29 posts since I've been by. I agree with you on this wholeheartedly.
I promise to be back sooner rather than later.

Well said, Ruth. Unfortunately there are people who set out to be unkind. Sometimes people are just thoughtless. I've had an experience of one of those recently.... I like to think it was the latter rather than the former though! x
PS Just gave you an award - hope you like it :-)
I agree with you whole heartedly. I always tell my children that if they wouldn't like what they're doing or saying done to themselves, not to do it to others and that's the way I like to live my life too.
Well put. I hope you don't mind but I am going to follow your blog. I love reading it.
