My SiL has asked me to put together a picture board of my FiL's life to display at the gathering after his funeral. At the moment, I have the board on the kitchen table and move things around as the mood takes me. I'm lacking photos of my SiL and one of her sons, hence the cork still visible. Actually, I'm lacking decades of photos, but that can't be helped. Once they are stuck down, my plan is add text over the photos ~ My FiL's name, his nickname, Dad, Grandad, brother, you get the idea. I also thought that I would leave pens and notelets near the board and invite people to share their stories and memories.
It's all about the stories, isn't it?

It looks as though you have a lovely colletion of photos there- and I'm sure people will love to share their memories.
Wishing you comfort through what must be a difficult time for you all.
I think thats a lovely idea to leave paper for writing down memories. I'm sure everyone will appreciate it in years to come.
What a lovely idea xx

It *is* about the stories!! Beautiful collage you've put together. Keeping you in our prayers.
Oh, Ruth...been a while since I visited your blog and I am so sorry to hear of your FiL's passing. :( He looks like such a nice man and your collage is looking great so far. Sending virtual hugs your way! xoxo
What a lovely idea. I'm sure everyone will find it inspiring. And I'm not meaning to be crass when I say that I've found funerals oner of the best places to fins out about your family tree.
I'm guessing this project is a help and a hard thing all at once..
..but you will make a fine job of it. That's for sure
It looks like you've got a good start on this, Ruth. I did a layout of Jon's Mum through the years which we had at her funeral, as well as a little scrapbook of her family. Everyone really enjoyed looking at the photos and wrote down little snippets about what they remembered of her. I'm sure you'll find people will love this photo board too and the photos themselves will bring back memories. xxx
then you collect all the stories and pictures together into a photobook and get snapfish or someone to print it and you give it to everyone as their christmas present.
Beautiful idea, so miving !
I think you have a lovely collection of photos, it is always at times like these when you realise and wish you had more. Adding a notelet for others to add in their memories and stories is a great idea.
Yes, you're right.. I had done a Golden wedding album for my in laws and about 9 months later we displayed it at her funeral, it was a great tribute and an opportunity for everyone in the family to be together, despite the sadness.
The photo board is terrific, Ruth, and having the notes there for people to add is a great idea!
Thinking of you...
