Photo a Day: 4th July

~ donating my 22nd pint ~
I was surprised earlier today when my American friend if I would be paid for donating blood.
Here in the UK, the answer is no, you donate because you want to.
And you hope that you never need to receive any in an emergency.

I wonder how many other donors ask to have their photos taken while they are donating! My husband is a regular blood donor too, and I can guarantee that he has NEVER had his photo taken! Isn't it weird how some countries pay you to do it?

Well done you. I still don't know if I can go back after taking those iron tablets for so long. Note to self....find out!!

I used to donate in college and I was never paid for it. Never heard of that. Now it is too hard for them to find a usable vein and I get anxious every time I need blood work done - too many bad experiences with blown veins and bruises!

Well done for getting someone to take a photo - I managed one self portrait with the free hand once :)

I'm off to the West End to donate next week.

Like Cheri, it's something I am, unfortunately, unable to do due to my ***ppy veins! Having blood tests is really traumatic for me!

It's the same in Australia, they do not pay for donating. I haven't donated for a few years, having been busy with children, but I'm nearly ready to start again. They like my blood, I'm an 0-.
