Practice Makes Perfect

If I mention handwriting homework, he moans.
If I mention holiday diaries, he groans.
If I notice that he is laboriously copying out Liverpool football results, I say nothing.
And sneak a photo or two.
Practice makes perfect.

Brilliant, that opens all sorts of doors, you could ask for team lists, players cvs, fixture lists, all sorts (not all at once though) :-)

I know another boy who used to do that. Then he'd concoct his own score charts and league tables. Anything stressful and a bit of quiet "tabling" always helped. Mind you, think ahead - this boy earned money scoring cricket matches last summer and he's doing an umpiring course this year! Keep tabling!
