Watching Daddy

I was able to take this candid shot of DS at teatime while he was watching his daddy try out the new Dyson on the stairs. DS was entertained for 10 minutes and I got a job done for me - bit of a result!

Bubble Boy!

After seeing a bubble maker in action earlier this week, we got one for DS. Initially he didn't really take any notice of it but yesterday it caught his imagination and he had fun trying to capture the bubbles before they popped. The most simple of toys seem to be providing the most fun!

June's Scrap Your Day

I finished the DLO last night and am pleased with how it turned out. Thanks to BF & her family for making the day more fun & interesting!

It's A Bit Of An Animal...

When DH was supervising DS in the bath this evening, I had a play with Dennis the Dyson and am mightily impressed. I only "hoovered" (ha, ha!) the living room and the hall and couldn't believe how much rubbish came up. See the photographic eveidence...

It's All Gone Quiet...

...BF & her children have gone home, DS is asleep and DH has gone to Bisley for some "Boy Time". I've got half an eye on Wimbledon - Leighton Hewitt is playing an Italian I've never heard of - but the house does seem very quiet. I've done a stack of ironing, printed off the photos for Scrap Your day and taken delivery of my new Dyson Animal vacuum cleaner!
Here's a few more great shots from yesterday.
Sounds as though DS is waking up...

Tired But Happy (Of Sorts)

The last 2 days have been great with the children but our happiness has been tempered by some not-so-great news about someone in the family. Life's highs & lows, all in one day.

The Scrap Your Day went well and I have 72 photographs to choose from! The weather has held and we are spending all day in the fresh air, long may it continue.

Here's a snapshot of 25th June...

A Wonderful Day

We have had the best day!! The weather was great so the children spent every waking moment outside. BF's DS was 2 today and we gave him a poly tunnel for the garden; both boys had great fun in it. Even I had a go at going through it but those photos are on BF's camera so will try to upload a couple tomorrow.

Here's a sample of the fun we had.

That Time Of The Month...

... tomorrow is Scrap Your Day (number 3 of 12). Hopefully it will be extra fun because of BF & the children.

So Long, Sucker!

Yesterday afternoon DS went to sleep in the car on the way to a BBQ in Oxford without the help of his soother so I took this window of opportunity to help him go Cold Turkey!! His 2 soothers have been removed from view and although he was awake in the early hours for an hour, I don't think we're doing too badly so far ... famous last words!!
I was always going to be one of those parents whose children didn't have a soother but to be honest I can't remember how it came into being. I restricted the use to nap times only but still was never really happy about it. Poor DS, it's hardly his fault because we gave the blasted thing to him in the 1st place!!
Hopefully by the end of the week he'll have forgotten all about it. DH thinks I'm being mean, by the way, which really makes me feel better!!!

Busy Week Ahead

BF and her 2 children arrived today to stay with us for a week, which is really fab and I've been looking forward to it for ages! BF's DS is 2 tomorrow, which I can hardly believe! Both of the children are so gorgeous!

The Final GoGo GetAway Sketch Challenge

This one was taken from Donna's challenge. I used paint to stamp the title and the swirl and although neither is perfect, I'm fairly happy with how it turned out.

GoGo GetAway Sketch Challenge...'s another one; this time it was taken from Jennie's sketch.

It's been a busy day so far and there's still a few hours to go before DS goes to bed. I was at the dentist & hygienist this morning - now have lovely tea-stain-free teeth but need to have an old filling replaced, which isn't so great.

SIL came over for lunch; she's been in the wars a bit of late so it was great to see her looking well and fairly relaxed. Both she & DS had a lovely time playing in the garden, as you can see by the photos.

Mr Postie was good to be this morning; a CM order (with some free bits for being chosen as order of the day!), a super-duper 3" oval scalloped punch and some sheets of the Dy-No-Mite papers, which we used in Jane's class at the GetAway. I can feel a stash diet coming on...but I would like the super-duper 3" circle scalloped punch...

Poor DS is still coughing and another disturbed night but nowhere near as bad as the night before so I suppose that's progress of a sort! Mind you, I had to wake him at 9am this morning and then he took a long time to settle for his pm nap so I ended up having to wake him at 4.30pm. He's gone to bed fully dosed with his baby drugs & Vicks.

DS is such a little star though, as you can see by today's photos - happy to smile.

Portrait Photography

I took DS to the swings in the park and to feed the ducks this afternoon. The ducks weren't interested in posing for the camera so I practiced my portrait photography on DS. I was pleased with how they turned out but I still need to master the art of photography in motion.
Poor DS is getting over a nasty cold and is still coughing a fair bit but at least his runny nose has dried up. The coughing kept him awake in the early hours of last night and at 4am this morning we were dosing him up with Calpol (baby drugs!) and rubbing Vicks into his chest!

Moorhen Chicks

There were 7 Moorhen chicks on the pond in the park this afternoon and I managed to capture 2 of them on film (although I now use a digi camera so it's not film at all!!) I was well chuffed with how it turned out.

My Mountain Goat

This morning at the InLaws in Derbyshire, DS decided he wanted to climb the stairs, probably becuase he could hear me on the landing. DH was on hand behind him if needed but DS scampered up them no problem whatsoever.

Note to self - always ensure the stairgates are closed top and bottom.

Off Visiting

We're off to the InLaws soon so will catch up with all news early next week. The InLaws is an Internet-free zone!

Transport Upgrade

DS had another milestone in his young life today - he moved out of the "proper" pram into a stroller. It's much lighter than the pram and is in a very cool brown splodge pattern (that would be the official Mamas & Papas description!), which is called "Mojo" - amusing if you're a scrapper because you're always concerned you might loose it!

Another GoGo Challenge LO

This challenge was set by Helen and used the gorgeous Dream Street Papers. I've been meaning to scrap these photos for a page in DS's album for ages - perfect timing.

BTW - my boy cried all the while he was in the bath, had his bedtime milk in his cot, lights out at 6.45pm and was fast asleep by 6.50pm. I checked on him at 7.15pm and found him upside down but looking like a sleeping angel!

Toddler Tantrums

My not-quite-a-toddler has his first proper tantrum this afternoon - it was not an enjoyable occasion! He refused to have his afternoon nap so by the time we came back from the park & it was almost his teatime he was becoming unbearable. All around the park he'd wanted to hold his favourite teddy but no sooner had he got hold of her he threw her over the side of the pram. I lost count how many times I had to pick her up. She only went through the wash yesterday as well!! When I finally refused to give her back, DS started crying and wailing very loudly and ended up with tears & snot all over his face. Once we were home I let him have playtime before tea; he then proceeded to demolish the CD rack and to eat the soil out of the Mother-in-Law's Tongue (what he didn't eat he threw all over the table) while sitting in the magazine rack! He followed this up with refusing to eat his cheesy tuna pasta (which I'd stood and cooked this afternoon) and throwing it to the dog, who didn't mind at all! He's now corralled in the hall while I drink a cuppa and take a time out. Bath time is next and I think it will then be milk in his cot followed by early lights out "for all Chinese".

Fish Face!

DS had his very first taste of Bird's Eye Fish Fingers at tea time today, served up with peas. You can see just how much he hated them!

GoGo Sketch Challenge

The GoGo Design Team girls all set a sketch challenge; all a bit of fun and we have until the end of the month to upload a LO to the GoGo the minute I'm the only one in there, like Billy No Mates!

This LO is based on Ifa's sketch and uses the scummy October Afternoon papers. It's a bit on the dark side because I've just photographed it outside at 9pm!

Update On The Dog Lady

I spoke to DH last night via Skype, as he is currently on business in a lovely European Capital City. When I told him about the dog lady he said he'd encountered her & her mutts before. Apparently her dog had a go at ours then and DH told the woman that if she didn't call it off he would be giving it a kick into touch (not that DH would, but she wouldn't know that!). When I rule the world irresponsible pet owners will be flogged!!

The Last GoGo LO...For Now!

This is the LO we did in Jane Dean's "Dy No Mite" class; we all thought it was going to be teriffically hard but were pleasantly surprised. Simple yet really effective.

And yet more GoGo LOs

This is the mini-book we started in Shimelle's Quirky Little Miss Fit Class. Basically it's all about the people, things & places we love. It's growing on me!

Other People & Their Dogs

I took DS and the dog to the park this afternoon, which is a fairly regular occurrance of late. Towards the end of our walk we encountered a woman of mature years with 2 small terriers, one of whom thought it would be a good idea to go for my dog. And I mean go for, no pup-meets-pup playing going on here! My dog very quickly got back to me and let me put the lead on him straight away. All this woman could do was screech at her dog to stop. As I took the dog and DS away from her and her awful dog, I said that she shouldn't have her dog off the lead if she couldn't control it. She replied along the lines of "oh, please" and that I should get over myself!!! I then said that it hadn't been my dog attacking hers, more like the other way round. At this point some other woman, a total stranger, said that it wasn't her (the dog woman) attacking me! I couldn't believe it, there's my dog being attacked by her dog and somehow it ends up my fault. I was so annoyed that I made myself walk away. Thankfully my dog is fine although he was pretty shaken up for a while. Mum says that she's off to live on a desert island if life in Britain gets any worse, wonder if she'll have room for us?

More LOs

The 1st LO is from the GoGo weekend - Fiona's Pickles & Paint class. In the end I enjoyed messing about with paint but I don't think I'll be taking it up on a regular basis! The 2nd LO is for the Partner's Birth Year CJ - 1959. It only arrived this morning but I'll be posting it off tomorrow because we are way behind, thanks to a spot of hoarding by some-one!

GoGo Photos

It really was a fab weekend; loads of great classes & loads of fab people to meet. The only downside is that yet again there isn't a decent photo of me on my camera. Is it any wonder that I prefer to be behind the lens?
