Crossing To The Dark Side?

I have given in and purchased Photoshop Elements 9 (along with PSE9 For Dummies).  It arrived this morning and has duly been installed on to my PC.
But, here's the thing ... I don't understand it.  The reasoning behind the purchase was to make full use of the journaling stuff offered with the Yesterday & Today class, not to become a digi scrapper (heaven forbid!).  Ali's notes in her handouts make it all sound so simple.  Yours truly is obviously a dunce, because I am not getting it.  Not at all. My PC uses Windows 7 and I have the Microsoft Office 2010 package in the starter version ~ does that make a difference, does anyone know?

Ruth, I'm at the same point. I have a book called "The Missing Manual" and together with Ali's information covers everything I need to know - but I can only take in about a page of it at a time before my eyes start to glaze over. I am trying to persevere because I can completely see the potential - I am just no where near getting out of the starting blocks with it yet. So you aren't alone!!

Sorry I can't help with this one. I am using PSE 8 with Vista and Office 2007 and that works fine. I would have thought your software is fine as it's up to date. Check the PSE9 box and see what software it says it's suitable for use with. If it says Windows 7 and Office 2010 I don't think that'll be an issue. xx

I'm still on PSE7. The Dark Ages, rather than the Dark Side

Another right there with you, I got OSE( and the Dummies book for Christmas and loaded it but have just begun to look at it. I watched the Five Things You Didn't Know PSE9 Could Do (well I don't have a clue about anything it can do!) tutorial and just kept saying ohmygosh that's so cool! I will be a slow learner, I tend to learn computer things by doing but think this will be a longer process. Good luck to both of us :)

I'm glad to know I'm not alone. I consider myself to be fairly savvy with technology, but PSE is really tricky. If you can find some online tutorials that walk you through the basics step-by-step that will help. Good luck!!!

Oh, so I'm not "the only one"! Like Kirsty, I'm still on PS7... I can do the basic photo editing stuff pretty well now... but when it comes to digi scrapping etc, I can't get to grips with it at all. And I have a HNC in Information Technology and was (in a former life) an Analyst Programmer... These days, I'm lucky if I can get my internet connnection working, let alone understand the software on my laptop!
You have my sympathy... but I can't help you!!!
(but there must be a course out there somewhere, that would help all of us - PSE for Scrappers, or some such?)

I'm a PSE6 user! I found that the manuals didn't help me understand, I had to watch videos - Cathy's and Ali's and Jessica Sprague's... I don't try and learn everything at once, but when I want to do something I go and hunt out a tutorial for it - I was using PSE6 for over a year before I learnt about creating a new canvas to resize my photos!

Come to the Dark Side! We have Ctrl-Z for when you mess up cutting things!

I use PSPX2 so I am no help at all with PSE. Sorry
