One Little Word Blog Hop: January

Good morning/afternoon/evening and welcome to the final One Little Word Blog Hop.  The hop is hosted by Margie and if you've landed here from Cheri, welcome.  I'm listed at number four this month, but don't worry if you get lost following the links ~ there's a full list of participants at the end of this post.
My husband {The Brainy One} chose our word for 2012: enjoy.  Not because he wants us to be frivolous with our lives, but because he wants us to grasp every opportunity, good or bad, that comes our way this year.

This final month with our word was all about looking back.  And looking back gives you a sense of where you've been and grounds you in  today and where you'd like to go next.
It turned out that our word was difficult to achieve in the first quarter of 2012; my lovely father-in-law died at the end of February and in April we received the formal diagnosis of The Boy Child's Autism.  That said, we agreed that neither event would define 2012 for our family.
We realised that enjoyment could be found quite easily, as long as we looked for it and that it wasn't always  about the big things, although they were there in 2012: our nephew's wedding in Cartagena, Colombia, The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympic Games.
The small, everyday things count just as much: an unexpected lunch with The Brainy One, adventures on public transport with The Boy Child.

I hope that if you've had a word in 2012, you've found it to be of use.
Do you have a word for 2013?

If you're moving on with the OLW Blog Hop, then you'll be visiting Nikki next and you can find her here.

Hey Ruth, so glad to know that "enjoy" worked out for you. What will your word for 2013 be?

Celebrating and enjoying the everyday little things which are such an integral part of our lives is so important. Hope you all found your OLW a help to you too.

Enjoy is such a wonderful - and flexible - word. Well done! What does 2013 have in store for you?

I love that you word is a family project - and I've taken a little look back through your posts and yes - in your list of things to do in 2013, please continue to blog and photograph - I loved all that I read. Look forward to visiting you again next month. Happy New Year fellow OLWer!

Lovely to read how you've made this word your own despite the unexpected events of the year and found riches in it... Was wondering if you've chosen one for 2013?
