There are some things about autism that are hard to live with.
It's all relative, because, let's be honest, autism is hard to live with.
Let's talk food
and specifically, the presentation of it.
We're fortunate in that The Boy Child is a good eater.
He likes what he likes,
although it can be difficult to get him to try new foods.
(I don't necessarily think that is autism-specific.)
However, when faced with a plate of food that isn't served with a sauce,
he insists that nothing must touch.
I realised early on that there was no point in fighting him on this
and I frequently have to listen to well meaning friends say that
they wouldn't put up with it if he were their son.
He's not and I do.
